A Simple Guide on Car Headlights

Types of Headlights

There are many headlight models that you can choose from, including LED, Halogen Xenon and Laser lights. This guide will describe the benefits and disadvantages of all four categories of light bulb. As you will note, some are more beneficial and energy efficient than others.

Xenon Headlights

Xenon lights offer several benefits for car owners. Firstly, they generate a clean, bright, white light. They can be used as is, or they can be installed as high definition bulbs for an enhanced effect. These lights happen to be more energy efficient than halogen bulbs, and they illuminate lights very well. Furthermore, they squander less energy than traditional bulbs and they last longer as well.

Halogen Headlights

Halogen headlights are relatively inexpensive and they emit a bright, white light as well. They are fairly cheap to replace and they have a decent operational lifespan. However, they also come with their share of challenges. They exude excessive heat, they squander energy, and they are highly reactive when exposed to specific substances. Furthermore, while they have been manufactured for better durability over the years, they are somewhat susceptible to breakage or shattering.

LED Headlights

Of the headlights discussed above, LED lights are one of the most highly recommended lightbulbs on the market. There confer a decent share of advantages as well. Firstly, they can be installed in your car and maintained with a breeze. These are no-hassle, easy to use headlights that almost anyone can install with a directional manual. Another great advantage of using LED headlights is they expend less energy than the alternative. For example, halogen headlights use up 80% of the energy, while LED bulbs use up 20% of their energy.

Another great advantage of LED bulbs is they require very little power to work and because of this, they can last up to 20 years. Even though they operate on very little energy, they are highly efficient, and they are relatively cool in comparison to much hotter halogen lights. Not to mention they are small, compact, and they have a quality construction and design. Another great benefit of using these headlights is they are environmentally friendly, as they emit less carbon dioxide. Finally, LED light bulbs can help you see in foggy road conditions, as they generate bright, crisp warm lights.

Of course, some LED light bulbs require more cooling time in order to function property, in comparison to halogen lights which can operate at high temperatures. Furthermore, LED lights may be slightly more expensive than halogen lights. In spite of this, the saving benefits will persist during the operational lifespan of the light. Accordingly, you can save a significant amount of money on gas. Because LED lights operate on lower voltages, and consume less energy, you will expend less gas as a result. Over time, these savings will add up.

Which Bulb is Best?

The bulb that you choose depends entirely on your driving and personal needs. For example, if you desperately need to replace your headlights, and you are seeking a short term, inexpensive option to fit into your limited budget, then you should consider purchasing halogen lights, if you’re not concerned about long term effects. However, if you would like to save money for years down the line, minimize energy expenditures, and help the environment, then you should consider LED lights. It is one thing to save money on a single purchase. However, daily savings on gas and energy will probably benefit you more.

Of course, before you make your decision, consider the estimated life span of each bulb. Halogen bulbs can last 200-400 hours. A xenon bulb can last 2500 hours. However, LED bulbs are the most impressive, as they can last 5000 hours.
